Scarlet-Chested Sunbird

(Chalcomitra senegalensis)

The male Scarlet-Chested Sunbird wears a brilliant red bib over his otherwise somber black outfit, while the female is a drab olive-brown. The long curved beak is perfect for extracting their favorite food: flower nectar!

They also occasionally eat spiders, which seems a bit ironic considering that the female depends on spider webs to bind her nest together!
